Welcome to my site! My name is Lesley O`Neill (nee Lang) and I am the founder of FloraDance. I was born in Scotland and grew up on the beautiful west coast by the River Clyde. According to my mum I was reluctant to begin walking but would pull myself into a standing position and dance. At a young age I joined a disco dance class and was encouraged by my dance teacher to try highland dancing. That was where my happy journey began. I learned the dances quickly and before I knew it I was registering in competitions all over bonnie Scotland. At my first competition I won 5 Firsts and 2 Seconds, resulting in winning the highland trophy. Not only was I doing well at competitions, I was going something I loved! Upon winning my pre- championship I continued to dance at the Cowal Games World Championships.
During most of my childhood and teenage life I danced anywhere I could which led me to join local amateur dramatic groups and pantomines. In university I obtained my Bachelors Degree all the while still continuing to dance. There I was part of a Hip Hop group and for a number of years learned Salsa Cubana. Of all the styles I danced over the years Highland Dancing was closest to my heart. I went on to study and obtain my teachers qualification with the B.A.T.D - The British Association for Teachers of Dance. Since living in Switzerland I have personally performed for various events and loved sharing part of my culture in my new home. Now I feel great joy in share my passion for Highland Dance further in teaching others.
